Frequently Asked Questions:
- How long does marbalite last
This is like asking "how long is a piece of string?" but
marbalite in a well maintained swimming pool should last 15 to 20 years
- Automatic swimming pool cleaner floats to the surface
The cleaner body cracked and the body weight has fallen out
- Cloudy swimming pool water
Poor water conditions and balancing
The filter medium is dirty
There is insufficient circulation
- The pump is noisey
The pumps bearings are worn down and should be replaced
The swimming pool is leaking and or the pools water level is too low
- The swimming pool return is blowing bubbles into the pool
The pipe between the weir and the pump has a leak, which is sucking air
into the line
The pump seals are worn
This should be repaired before the pump and filtration system are damaged
- Unusually high water loss
Either the mosaics, the shell, the light, the bottom drain or an
underground pipe from the filter to the swimming pool is leaking.
- The automatic pool cleaner pipe keeps getting blown out of the
weir when the pump switches off
A "bleed" pipe inside the filter has broken or blocked up,
this allows air pressure to build up inside the filter which when
released causes air to blow back through the pipe into the weir
- Pool is green
Chlorine levels are too low or pool water has metals in it
- When should a swimming pool be cleaned
The swimming pool should be cleaned, the filter backwashed, the water chemistry
tested and balanced once a week
- The suction power has decreased
One or both of the traps are dirty
There is an air leak in the suction line
The pump seals are old and worn
- Pressure gauge is very high
The filter needs to be backwashed
- There is filter sand comming back into the
swimming pool
The filter has internal damage
- The swimming pool surface has become stained from algae and dirt
The pool surface needs an acid wash. This is a specialised task with
dangers to yourself as well as the pool surface and should be done by a
professional. Some pool surfaces cannot be acid washed – please seek
professional advice
